Texas Instruments Receives European Investment Project Award at World Investment Conference in La Baule, France
Award Recognizes TI’s Strategic Investments in Research & Development in Europe
NICE, France (June 7, 2004) -- Leading wireless semiconductor manufacturer Texas Instruments Inc. (TI) (NYSE: TXN) received a European Investment Project Award at the second World Investment Conference held in La Baule, France on May 27. The award was presented to Gilles Delfassy, TI senior vice president and general manager of the worldwide wireless terminals business, by Peter Balazs, European Commissioner, and Geoffrey Connor, Texas Secretary of State in the presence of French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin to recognize TI’s program of strategic investments in Europe and in particular recent investments and acquisitions in research & development for Wireless semiconductor solutions.

Texas Instruments Creates Embedded Java Competence Center
TI Builds on Success of Joint Research With INRIA With A New Center Focused on Accelerating Java Applications on Mobile Devices
(NICE, December 4, 2003) Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN) today announced that it has established a Java competence center in Rennes, France as an extension of its effort to expand the availability of innovative wireless multimedia applications on TI OMAP processors and wireless communications chipsets. The center will open following a five-year research program conducted jointly with INRIA (Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique), that was focused on developing technology that will optimize the performance of Java applications when running on cell phones and other portable and converged multimedia electronics.

TI’s Engibous to Transition CEO Role; Will Continue as Chairman
DALLAS – (January 15, 2004) – Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN) today said that Chief Executive Officer Thomas J. (Tom) Engibous will transition out of the roles of president and CEO over the next four months. He will continue as the company’s chairman. The TI Board of Directors has selected Richard K. (Rich) Templeton to become the company’s next president and CEO, effective May 1. Templeton currently is chief operating officer and a 23-year veteran of TI. The transition is a planned succession that follows Templeton’s selection as chief operating officer in 2000 and his election to the board of directors in 2003.
